Messi and Roanldo who have dominated prize ceremonies in recent years having shared the Ballon d’Or between them since 2008 are the leading contenders for this year’s Globe Soccer awards.
According to the organisers - Globe Soccer awards , The appointment with the new edition of the of the awards is set for 28 December 2017, in the city where everything is possible, Dubai, where the award winners for their performances during the last season will be announced.
"Among the candidates are players of the calibre of Ronaldo, Messi, Dybala, Buffon, Neymar, Sergio Ramos and Mbappé, as well as coaches such as Conte, Allegri, Mourinho and Zidane, each with their own collection of trophies.
"But it is not just players and coaches. Among others, there will also be directors from the leading clubs (Real Madrid, Monaco and Manchester United) and the agents who decided the fate of the transfer market last season (Mendes, Raiola and Lucci).
"Over the course of seven editions, past and present champions have come to Dubai to take part in the celebration of football in the Emirates and, for the 2017 edition, only the best will manage to fill their trophy cabinet with a Globe Soccer Award."
It will be the eighth edition of the Globe Soccer awards and Ronaldo has been named the player of the year on three occasions while Messi has won it once.
The ceremony will also give out accolades to the best coach, best club, best agent and more. Zinedine Zidane leads the list of contenders to win coach of the year along with Chelsea's Antonio Conte, Manchester United's Jose Mourinho, and Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus,
Real Madrid are up for the award of best club after their La Liga and Champions League double while Monaco, who won Ligue 1 last season, and Europa League Champions Manchester United are the other nominees.
