Chelsea set to go head-to-head with Barcelona in transfer battle to sign Bundesliga superstar

Chelsea are ready to battle Barcelona for the signing of £20m-rated Bayer Leverkusen forward Leon Bailey, according to reports.
An arrival at the BayArena from Genk in the winter transfer window a year ago - despite interest from the Blues as well as Manchester United - the 20-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the Bundesliga.
In what has been a difficult season for Bayer thus far, Bailey has been one of very few shining lights. He's scored four goals and registered two assists across 11 league appearances and such impressive form is said to have alerted two of European football's leading clubs.
As reported by the Sun , the current La Liga leaders have been credited with a firm interest in the Jamaican and that has triggered the west London outfit to step up their attempts to conclude a deal.
In addition, the report states that they've sent scouts to watch Bailey on three separate occasions this season - having monitored his progress over the past 18 months - and are hopeful that a £20m bid coupled with the option of loaning the forward back for the second half of the campaign will be enough to tempt Leverkusen.
However, as Bailey is contracted until 2022, Leverkusen won't be under much pressure to cash in on the wonderkid, although it's understood that the chance to keep him on loan whist gaining significant funds may prove to be too good of an opportunity to turn away.
