Ronaldo puts secret call to Messi over Ballon d'Or

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly made a secret call to Lionel Messi informing him informing him he will win he 2017 Ballon d'Or.
The Real Madrid superstar is set to draw level with the Argentinian at five wins apiece to bring their duopoly up to 10 years.
The last winner before them was Kaka, whilst playing for AC Milan. Ronaldo, after retaining the Champions League with Real Madrid and clinching a double with La Liga, should edge out his rival, but that hasn't stopped him briefing him over the phone.
Ronaldo is said to have made the call out of respect for the Barcelona superstar, having been informed that he has won, with Messi in turn congratulated him on his achievement.
The report, from Don Balon, details how Ronaldo is already beginning to believe Messi may have the inside track to next year's award following his hot streak to start to the season.
The Barcelona star has scored 16 times in 17 games already this campaign in all competitions, compared to Ronaldo's eight in 13, with just one of those strikes coming in La Liga.
Neymar appears to be the favourite to split up the duopoly on the award, with his compatriot and former winner Kaka tipping him to do so.
