Manchester United are in panic mode after Marouane Fellaini rejected a new contract offer, and is now set to leave the club for nothing next summer.
The midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of this season, has turned down United's offer of a new deal and is poised to leave Old Trafford.
United want Fellaini to stay, but the midfielder is not happy with the terms he has been offered and also wants to play more regularly.
Fellaini turned down United's offer of a new £120,000-a-week deal in September and there has been nothing from his camp to indicate that stance will change.
United are adamant the 29-year-old – who turns 30 next week - will not be sold in January and are prepared for him to leave as a free agent next summer if he does not commit to a new contract.
The Reds triggered an option to extend Fellaini's deal by an extra 12 months in January, following his £27.5million move from Everton on transfer deadline day in September 2013.
Despite a difficult start to his United career, Fellaini has become an effective player under Jose Mourinho, who is desperate for the Belgium international to stay.
But with United unwilling to bow to Fellaini's demands for an improved offer, he is free to sign a pre-contract with another club in January and leave as a free agent next summer.
