With Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's recent comments, the "Neymar to Los Blancos" rumours have reignited, but there are a few reasons why the Brazilian may just want to stay put. Can you think of what they are?
The Daily Mail quoted the controversial Perez as saying, "Being in Madrid would make it (Neymar winning the Ballon d'Or) easier. Madrid is a club that gives a big player everything they need to do so. Everyone knows I wanted to sign him."
This caused many to speculate about the 25-year-old's future once again, but before making what would be one of the most shocking moves in the history of the game, Neymar might want to consider the following...
Cristiano Ronaldo
Although the two are said to get on quite well during their limited interactions with each other, with reports even claiming that the Paris Saint-Germain attacker is a fan of the Madrid man, he would be forced to take a backseat as there is only one star of the show at the Santiago Bernabeu – and that star is Ronaldo. Although he is largely criticised for seemingly being self-centered, the Portuguese has not changed his ways. If he doesn't get on the scoresheet, he is known to huff and puff at his teammates for not passing him the ball, and even not celebrate with them when they get a goal. With the Edinson Cavani tensions from earlier this season said to be causing the youngster a lot of grief, one can only imagine how he would deal under these pressured circumstances with "CR7".
The Madrid Fans
The Madridistas are not an easy bunch to please; they've been known to bully players, coaches and even the management – just ask Gareth Bale, who they still seem to jeer to this day! The fans are famous for bringing out their white handkerchiefs every time their team loses and spare no feelings in criticising players. With Neymar appearing to be more on the sensitive side, this may cause him to have even more teary outbursts should he join their selection.
The Rivalry
Although Neymar is no longer with FC Barcelona, he is still considered by some a club legend over there, having helped them win many trophies, and for the most part, there is no bad blood between him and the Blaugrana – he was even spotted paying his former teammates a visit a few weeks ago. However, should he choose to move to their biggest rivals, that will bring with it the end of all sentiment and pre-existing affection for the star, as we've seen with other players who've been labelled traitors for representing both clubs, and have been heckled on every occasion. With the Brazilian still having many friends at Barca, that may not be something he would want from the supporters.
