According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Argentine has changed his opinion about former Valencia star Paco Alcacer and would like to see him stay at the club.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Messi did not rate the 24-year-old and felt that his style of play was incompatible with the rest of the attack.
After Ousmane Dembele suffered an injury earlier this season, Alcacer has been given a lot more first-team opportunities and has now apparently won the trust of the Argentina star.
The Spaniard was said to be on his way out of the club come the next window, but that might all change now that he has Messi in his corner.
Speaking after Barca's 2-0 win over Villarreal on Sunday, Alcacer told members of the media he is starting to feel more at home.
"When you do things well, you feel more comfortable, and you add more to the team," he said.
"You have to continue in this line and work, so they give me more minutes."
Alcacer has made 11 appearances for the Blaugrana so far this season, scoring five goals and assisting a further three strikes.
