Manchester United and Chelsea are set to compete for the signature of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Tutto Mercato , as quoted by the Daily Mirror , is reporting that both of the Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old as the January transfer window edges closer.
The same report claims that the midfielder’s low release clause of €25m (£22.1m) has made Pellegrini “ripe for the picking” by some of Europe’s top clubs, and both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested.
The midfielder has made two assists in nine Serie A appearances for Roma so far this season to help them up to fifth place in the league table.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window edges ever nearer.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Manchester City, while Chelsea are fourth and nine points adrift of top spot.
Chelsea return to Premier League action next weekend with a trip to West Brom, while Manchester United host Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the top flight.
