Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has quashed rumors that he is set to come out as gay
A Social Media user claimed the Chelsea striker had told team-mates he is homosexual.
The Twitter account TheChelseaDaily claimed that Michy Batshuayi is 'set to become the first openly gay footballer in the Premier League after coming out to teammate', the man himself has responded.
But the 24-year-old Batshuayi, responded: "Bro even your mother knows thats false (sic)," alongside four 'crying with laughter' emojis.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger and ex-Leeds winger Robbie Rogers both came out as gay after leaving English football.
No player has ever come out while currently playing in the top flight.
A number of campaigns to promote gender equality and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender players in football are ongoing.
Batshuayi has scored seven in 12 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea as the Belgian star is currently gearing up for Blues 's Premier League clash with West Brom at the Hawthorns.
